Minute to Win It - Games - Stick the Landing

Blueprint Description[]

In this challenge, the contestant will throw a partially full bottle of water, end over end, in an attempt to land it upright on a podium. With the bottle partially full, its center of gravity is in constant motion, creating an unpredictable flip. The contestant will have 10 attempts to land a total of 1 upright bottle.

Game Description[]

Player must toss a partially full water bottle onto a table and get it to land upright.

History[]

The contestant will have ten attempts to land a total of one upright bottle. This is a level 3 challenge in the United States and a Level 6 challenge in Australia. It also has ben played as a Level 8 and 9 challenge in the Philippines with the distance of the table being much further and having unlimited attempts. In the Last Man Standing Format, the player is required to do the challenge twice, and another version of this challenge required the contestant to flip two bottles using one hand with a shorter distance to the Filipino version, similar to Double Trouble.

Tips & Tricks[]

  • Practice your flipping technique: Make sure that you are flipping the bottle end over end in a consistent and controlled manner. Pay attention to the spin and angle of the bottle as you release it, as these will affect its trajectory and stability.
  • Experiment with different grip styles: There are a few different ways that you could hold the bottle when flipping it. You could try a thumb-on-top grip, a pinch grip, or a full-hand grip, and see which one works best for you.
    • Thumb-on-top grip: With this grip, you hold the bottle with your thumb on top of the bottle, and your fingers wrapped around the bottom. This grip allows you to have good control over the bottle, and is good for flipping the bottle with a more vertical trajectory.
    • Pinch grip: With this grip, you hold the bottle with your thumb and index finger, with your thumb on the side of the bottle and your index finger underneath. This grip allows you to have good control over the bottle, and is good for flipping the bottle with a more horizontal trajectory.
    • Full-hand grip: With this grip, you hold the bottle with your whole hand, with your fingers wrapped around the bottle and your thumb on top. This grip gives you good overall control of the bottle, and is good for flipping the bottle with a more vertical trajectory.
  • Practice your timing: Pay attention to the timing of your flip, and try to release the bottle at the right moment. You want to release it when it's at the top of its arc, so that it has time to rotate and stabilize itself before landing.
    • Pay attention to the timing of your flip, and try to release the bottle at the right moment. This may take some practice, but with enough repetition, you should be able to get a feel for the right timing.
